The support from the federal, provincial and territorial governments enables Own the Podium to support winter and summer targeted sports all the way to the Games.

CanadaThe Government of Canada is the largest contributor to the Own the Podium initiative. Through Sport Canada, it contributes a total of $47 million in enhanced excellence funding each year to Canadian winter and summer sports. Contributing Province/Territory Program (CPTP)

VANOC developed a new initiative called the Contributing Province/Territory Program (CPTP) which offers a structured avenue for all provinces and territories to participate in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Under the CPTP, signatory provinces and territories receive a package of benefits that create a close association with the Games. In return, participating provinces and territories make a financial contribution (based on population size) towards the success of Canadian athletes in 2010 through Own the Podium 2010; culture and arts, through the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad; and directly to staging a successful Games in 2010.
